Board of Directors Meeting

Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 7:30 p.m.

 

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Monday, January 2, 2007, 7:30 p.m., at the Maxatawny Elementary School pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

Call to Order   The meeting was called to order at 7:39 p.m. by President Vymazal

 

Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized. This meeting was tape-recorded.

 

Personnel       Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to approve the following  

personnel items:
1.  Ratification of the commission of Nicholas Lazo, Assistant Superintendent, for a four year term effective the date of commissioning and ending four years from that date.
2.  Permission to hire a long-term substitute high school librarian during Brenda BoyerÕs reassignment beginning the third quarter through the end of School Year 2006-2007.
3.  Permission to hire a long-term substitute middle school vocal music teacher during Shannon SundayÕs sabbatical beginning the third quarter through the end of School Year 2006-2007.
4.  Acceptance of the resignation of Shannon Langer, RTI Aide, effective January 26, 2007.
5.  Approval of the following personnel as guest teachers effective January 3, 2007 for School Year 2006-2007 at the substitute rate of $93 per day, days 1-20, $103 per day thereafter:
Louise Hutchings              Kutztown University
Jodi Corbett                      Kutztown University

Motion carried.

 

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the DistrictÕs Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.

 

Conference     Motion made by Alan Darion, seconded by Patricia Bealer, to approve the conference request

Request           for Dennis Kutz to attend the PA Educational Technology Expo and Conference to be held in

                        Hershey, PA on February 12-13, 2007 at a cost of $421.00.

Motion carried.

 

Breakfast        Motion made by Dennis Ritter, seconded by Alan Darion, to approve a pilot breakfast

Program          program at Kutztown Elementary, Greenwich Elementary, Middle and High Schools
                        beginning January 2007 at costs of $1.15 for elementary students and $1.25 for
                        secondary                 students.

Motion carried.

 

Adjournment   Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by Dennis Ritter to adjourn the meeting at

                        7:59 p.m.

            Motion. carried unanimously.
