The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Monday, April 2, 2007, 7:30 p.m., at the Greenwich-Lenhartsville Elementary School multi-purpose room pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

Absent             Kay Churchman. Chelsea Lenhart-Student Rep.

Call to Order   The meeting was called to order at 7:57p.m. by President Vymazal


Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized. This meeting was tape-recorded.


Personnel       Motion made by Dennis Ritter, seconded by Daniel Walter, to approve the following  

personnel items:
1.  Acceptance of the resignation, of Richard Wright, custodian, effective March 23, 2007.
2.  Approval of the following personnel as substitute teachers effective April 3, 2007 for School Year 2006-2007 at the substitute rate of $93 per day, days 1-20, $103 per day thereafter:
David Gerard       Music                             West Chester University
Debra Hummel    Early Childhood/Sp.Ed. Penn State Univ./Alvernia College
3.  Approval of Debra Hummel as a substitute aide effective April 3, 2007 for School Year 2006-2007 at the substitute aide rate of $8.80 per hour.
4.   Ratification of Hermann Winkler as substitute maintenance worker effective March 27,

2007 at the current substitute rate of $8.80 per hour

5.   Permission granted to hire Al Machamer as interim middle school principal at a rate of $300 per day.

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the DistrictÕs Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.


Elem. Summer            Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by William Yurvati, to approve the Elementary

Reading           Summer Reading/Mathematics Program Staff and Calendar for 2007 as follows:

Program             June 19 - July 26, 2007, Monday-Thursday 9:00 - 11:30 am (not July 4 and 5)

Staff begins June 18, 2007

Cost to Kutztown students $50.00

Cost to out-of-district students $305.00

Teachers (to be paid at the current curriculum rate):

Library Aide -  Melanie Wessner (current hourly rate)
