Board of Directors Meeting
Monday, April 16, 2007, 7:30 p.m.
The
Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the regular board
meeting on Monday, April 16,
2007 at 7:30 p.m., in the library of the Senior High School pursuant to due
notice to board members and the public.

Welcome President
Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence
and
Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
He asked that everyone signs the attendance book and marks their concern
next to their name. He requested
that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be
recognized. The meeting was tape-recorded.

Superintendent�s Report
Dr. Winkler asked that everyone remember the Virginia
Tech students killed today and encourage students to do all they can to keep
the administration informed of suspicious activity and threats of possible harm
to others. Continue to be vigilant with communications with students.
Science Olympiad team is onto the state competition.
History Day presentations were on display one evening
in the high school because a snow day occurred when students were scheduled to
go to Millersville for competition. They were unable to defend and present that
day but were able to do so during the evening at the high school. Most are
moving on to state competition.
Barbara Richard was recognized for achieving the
status of PA Registered School Business Administrator. Through PASBO, she
attained 64 CEU credits through professional coursework, community involvement
and serving as an officer of PASBO.
KES has their first state qualifier for geography bee
– Karl Velik - Congratulations!

group of parents and students informed the board on the status of the dance

Berks
County School directors submitted the top four priorities. They are: reducing
Kay
Churchman school district costs for cyber charter schools,
increase special education funding, review of state mandated programs and
provide full funding or stipulate that the districts donÕt need to continue
with program, allow school construction projects to have same criteria as
private sector.

1. Acceptance of the resignation with
regret due to retirement, of Dennis Kutz, Elementary Computer Teacher,
effective August 10, 2007.
2. Acceptance of the resignation with
regret due to retirement, of Kay Gift, custodian, effective June 29, 2007.
3. Acceptance of the resignation of
Ines Heuser, student-assigned aide, effective April 3, 2007.
4. Approval of the following personnel
as substitute teacher effective April 17, 2007 for school Year 2006-2007 at the
rate of $93 per day for days 1-20, $103.00 per day, thereafter.

hire a full-time chemistry teacher beginning School Year 2007-2008 with
ratification at a future board meeting.
7. Permission for administration to
hire a full-time high school secretary with ratification at a future board
meeting.
8. Approval of Mark Goldberg as a
Krapf bus driver for School Year 2006-2007.
