Board of Directors Meeting

Tuesday, July 6, 2004, 7:30 p.m.

 

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Tuesday,  July 6, 2004, 7:30 p.m., in the High School Library pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

Call to Order   The meeting was called to order at 7:43 p.m. by President Vymazal

 

Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized. This meeting was tape-recorded.

 

Personnel       Motion made by James Kramer, seconded by Patricia Bealer, to approve the following  

personnel items:
1.   Acceptance of the resignation of Donna Hinkle, high school computer lab aide, effective July 1, 2004.
2.   Acceptance of the resignation of Caroline Whitmoyer, high school Language Arts teacher, effective June 27, 2004.
3.   Approval of Dorene Byler, as a middle school instrumental music long-term substitute teacher for School Year 2004-2005 during Carl Zeplinís sabbatical leave at a rate of $85.00 per day for days 1-20, $95.00 per day for days 21-45 and the balance at Bachelorís column, Step 1, for non-tenured teachers per the KASD/KATA contract.
4.   Approval of Jody Baxley as a full-time elementary teacher effective School Year 2004-2005 salary to be set at 34,130 per Step 1, Bachelorís column (non-tenured) of the KASD/KATA contract.
5.   Approval of Suzanne Neuheimer as a full-time reading specialist effective School Year 2004-2005 salary to be set at 35,306 per Step 1, Masterís column (non-tenured) of the KASD/KATA contract.
6.   Approval of Nicole Kerchner to receive the preferred custodian substitute rate of $8.50 effective July 7, 2004 for School Year 2004-2005.
7.   Approval of the School Year 2004-2005 miscellaneous support staff position rates as listed on the attached sheet.
8.   Approval of the Agreement between the Kutztown Area School District and the Kutztown Area School District Administrators/Supervisors for the period July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2007 as attached.
9.   Approval of the following advisors and stipend amounts for School Year 2003-2004. These positions are not part of the KASD/KATA contract:
Middle School Student Council Adviser   Jeff Huffert                $700 Stipend
Middle School Berks Teen Inst.               Mary Ann O'Neil $275 Stipend
Middle School Technology Std. Assoc.    Matt Cullen               $400 Stipend
Middle School CTV                                  Matt Cullen               $500 Stipend
High School Majorette Instructor              Angela Bucci    $1,400 Stipend
Debate Coach                                         Tom Campbell  $1,100 Stipend
FFA Advisor                                            Celeste Ball              $500 Stipend

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the Districtís Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.

 

Policy              Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to approve the first reading
Revision          of attached revised policy #617 - Petty Cash.
                        Roll call vote:    Yes  5        No  0     Absent   4 (Dahlquist, Reppert, Yurvati, Ziegler)

Motion carried.

 

Laptop             Motion made by Kay Churchman, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to approve the Berks County
Insurance        Intermediate Unitís insurance plan to be adopted for all laptops. Parents will be responsible to pay a premium of $50.00 per laptop. The deductible per laptop is $67.50.
