Board of Directors Meeting

Monday, April 4, 2005, 7:30 p.m.

 

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Monday,  April 4, 2005, 7:30 p.m., at the Maxatawny Elementary School pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

Call to Order   The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by President Vymazal

 

Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized. This meeting was tape-recorded.

 

Personnel       Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by Kay Churchman, to approve the following  

personnel items:
1.  Ratification of Daniel Della Rova as secondary mathematics teacher, effective as soon as available at a salary of $37,505 as per Bachelorís column, Step 2, for non-tenured teachers of the KASD/KATA contract.
2.  Approval of Susan McLellan as long-term substitute secondary business teacher effective January 18, 2005 through April 29, 2005 during Karen Reighnís leave of absence at a rate of $85.00 per day for days 1-20, $95.00 per day for days 21-45 and the balance at Bachelorís column, Step 1, for non-tenured teachers per the KASD/KATA contract.
3.  Acceptance of the resignation of Cynthia Garland, nurseís aide, effective April 1, 2005.
4.  Approval of Cynthia Garland as substitute nurse aide for School Year 2004-2005 at the current substitute nurse aide rate.
5.  Approval of William Brobst and Dale Bailey as Krapf Bus Company drivers for School 2004-2005.
6.   Approval of David Loeb as a KASD substitute van driver for School Year 2004-2005

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the Districtís Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.

 

Senior Class   Motion made by Kent Dahlquist, seconded by James Kramer, to approve the senior class

Trip                  trip to Hershey Park. Student transportation is a possible cost for the district.

Middle School Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Patricia Bealer, to approve the middle school

Band/Choral    band and choral trip to the North American Music Festival in Toronto from May 11-16, 2006

Trip                  as detailed on the attached itinerary at no cost to the district.

Facility Usage Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to approve to increase

Cornerstone Community Churchís fee to the district from $450 to $500 per month effective July 1, 2005 for the organization to use the Maxatawny Elementary School one evening per week. The change in fee is needed to cover increased costs for fuel oil and electricity.
