Board of Directors Meeting

Monday, February 4, 2002, 7:30 p.m.

 

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Monday,

February 4, 2002, 7:30 p.m., in the Kutztown Elementary School Multi-purpose Room pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

 

Present           Patricia Bealer, Kent Dahlquist, James Kramer, Donald Meyers, Dennis Ritter, Don Vymazal, William Yurvati, Carl Ziegler, Ben Haas-Student Representative, Lynn Nonnemacher-Alternate Student Representative

Call to              The meeting was called to order at 7:43 p.m. by President Vymazal.

Order

 

Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment

                        of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized.  This meeting was tape recorded.

 

Personnel       Motion made by Kent Dahlquist, seconded by Patricia Bealer, to approve the following

personnel items #1-#5:

1.     Ratification of Bryan Hartman as .7 secondary music teacher effective as soon as Mr. Hartman is available at a prorated salary of $34,791.40 (.7 of $49,702) per Step 11, Bachelors +15 for tenured teachers of the KASD/KATA contract and approval to increase the .7 position to full-time beginning School Year 2002-2003.
2.   Dawn Russell as Senior Class Play Director for School Year 2001-2002 at a salary of $1,747.00 per the KASD/KATA contract.
3.   Resignation of Stephanie Donner, lunch room monitor, effective January 25, 2002.
4.   The following people to be added to the approved 2001-2002 substitute teacher list at the daily substitute rate:
            Joseph Thomas              Guest Teacher
            Jennifer Shurr                 Elem. Ed./Early Childhood                    Kutztown University
            Carrie Stein                     Music                                                   Mansfield University
            Sandra Plenderleith        Guest Teacher
5.   Stephanie Donner to be added to the approved 2001-2002 substitute aide list at the hourly substitute aide rate.

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the District’s Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.

                        School District:

                        $1,616.00 for 32 copies of the 2-book set:
Microsoft Access 2000 – Complete Concepts and Techniques, Shelly/Cashman/Pratt,
       published by Thomson Learning, 2000
Microsoft Excel 2000, Reding/O’Keefe, published by Thomson Learning, 2000

First Reading  Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Kent Dahlquist, to approve the first readings

Revised           of policies #1-#2:

2.     Revised Policy #204 – Attendance – Pupils

 

Motion made by Carl Ziegler, seconded by James Kramer, to strike item #7 in revised policy #204-Attendance-Pupils.

School Year    Motion made by Kent Dahlquist, seconded by Carl Ziegler, to have August 26, 2002 be the

2002-2003       first day for students for the 2002-2003 School Year.
