Board of Directors Meeting

Tuesday, April 2, 2002, 7:30 p.m.

 

The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for the workshop board meeting on Tuesday,

April 2, 2002, 7:30 p.m., in the Albany Elementary School Multi-purpose Room pursuant to due notice to board members and the public.

 

Present           Patricia Bealer, James Kramer, Donald Meyers, Dale Reppert, Dennis Ritter, Don Vymazal, William Yurvati, Carl Ziegler

 

Absent             Kent Dahlquist, Ben Haas-Student Representative, Lynn Nonnemacher-Alternate Student Representative

 

Also                 Gretchen Diehl-Board Secretary, Nickolas Sosik, Jr.- Business Manager, Geri Miller,

Call to              The meeting was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by President Vymazal

Order

 

Welcome         President Vymazal welcomed guests and opened the meeting with a moment

                        of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  He asked that everyone sign the attendance book and mark their concern next to their name.  He requested that anyone wishing to speak on an agenda item please raise his/her hand to be recognized. 

 

Personnel       Motion made by Patricia Bealer, seconded by Donald Meyers, to approve the following

personnel items #1-#6 and #8-#10:

1. Acceptance of the letter of resignation, due to retirement, of Barry Adams, acting principal and secondary social studies teacher, effective June 30, 2002.
2. Acceptance of the letter of resignation, due to retirement, of Nancy Fulton, secondary guidance counselor, effective June 30, 2002.
3. Acceptance of the letter of resignation, due to retirement, of Gail Young, elementary teacher, effective June 30, 2002.
4. Acceptance of the letter of resignation, due to retirement, of June Bruno, cafeteria worker, effective June 30, 2002.
5. Ratification of the resignation of Nora Beighley-Bullock, instructional aide, effective March 27, 2002.
6. Approval of Barbara Robinson as full-time (30 hours per week) non-certified instructional aide effective April 3, 2002, at a rate of $8.25 per hour.
8. Approval to ratify Kristin Sell-Noecker to be added to the approved 2001-2002 substitute teacher list at the daily substitute rate.
9. The following individuals to be added to the approved 2001-2002 substitute teacher list at the daily substitute rate:

10.  Approval to add Betsy Santiago to the approved 2001-2002 substitute aide list at the current substitute aide rate.

All Personnel Are Approved Pending the DistrictÕs Receipt of All Mandated Credentials.

 

 

 

 

 

Additional        Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Dale Reppert, to add the following bidder to

Bidder             the art supplies bid list approved at the March 18th board meeting. (This bid packet met all

KASD bidding requirements, including timeliness. However, the bidder marked the packet as samples, therefore the packet was not originally opened with the other bids.)

Ceramic Supply of NY & NJ, Lodi, NJ  07644       $3,117.26

Textbook         Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Donald Meyers, to approve the following

Approval         textbook:

   Family and Consumer Sciences

      The Developing Child, Holly Brisbane, published by Glencoe/McGraw Hill, 2000.

Adjournment   Motion made by William Yurvati, seconded by Dennis Ritter, to adjourn the meeting at

                        7:59 p.m.
