Food Services Policy Update

April 24, 2019

Dear Kutztown Families:

The Kutztown School District enjoys providing your student with the opportunity to receive a nourishing breakfast and lunch each school day. This communication is intended to provide families notice of the new food services policy guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The Kutztown Area School District Food Service Department is required to provide a breakfast and/or lunch even if students do not have cash of funds in their personal meal payment account. We are also required to discuss financial matters only with the parent/guardian of students in grades K through 8, rather than directly with the student. Students in grades 9 through 12 may discuss their food service balance with a cashier. Please note that guardians will receive an email weekly when their student has a negative balance.

Our Food Service Department offers a convenient online notification system that alerts parents/guardians when their student has a low balance in their food service account. To set up that alert or an account, visit SchoolCafé.com. Here you can choose to receive low balance notifications when your balance is below the desired threshold.

We continue to look forward to serving your student(s).
