The Kutztown Area School District is a combination of three municipalities and three townships covering 99 square miles. Kutztown is known for its unique cultural heritage and community spirit. Germans who arrived in the area during the eighteenth century settled all the boroughs of Kutztown, Lyons, and Lenhartsville; as well as the townships of Maxatawny, Greenwich, and Albany. These immigrants came from the southern regions of Germany in the 1700's for many reasons including agriculture, the crafts, and intellectual endeavors.
As we honor our past, we recognize the change that is a constant in the world, and look to the future where we may maintain our sense of self and community while embracing the possibilities of what may be.
