BIOGRAPHY:
I am currently in my 7th year of teaching life science here at Kutztown Area Middle School.
I graduated from Clarion University with both my Bachelor's degree in secondary education, biology, and my Master's degree in science education. I have continued to further my education by taking classes through the World Conservation Society, as well. My favorite part of teaching science is watching students become engaged and excited about hands-on, minds-on, inquiry-based activities.
I have a true passion for teaching, and couldn't ask for a more perfect fit than Kutztown Area Middle School. It's my personal goal, and I strive to be the best teacher any student could ever ask for. I have attended many summer experiences that have enhanced both my education and teaching strategies and methodology.
Several of those opportunities were digging for wooly mammoth bones in South Dakota, researching at Hershey Medical Center as a research teacher, coastal field ecology at Hog Island, ME, TTEC (A Trail to Every Classroom), a program that is specifically geared to outdoor education and project-based service learning experiences, and a pilot i-TREC (Iditarod Trail to Every Classtoom), program where I taught teachers the TTEC program in Alaska. I feel these opportunities have made me a well-rounded individual, especially in teaching and provided me a wealthy network of teachers to collaborate
and correspond with.
I love the outdoors, exercising, and spending time with my family. I have two sons named Bronson and Jackson, and two chesepeake bay retrievers.
