Cyber Charter Funding Reform
Overview
Kutztown Area School District is committed to advocating for reform in cyber charter school funding. Our goal is to ensure fair and equitable distribution of public education funds and to protect our taxpayers from excessive costs associated with cyber charter tuition.
Financial Impact of Cyber Charter Schools (2025-26)
For the 2025-26 school year, the projected expenses for cyber charter tuition are as follows:
- Regular Education: $18,992.94 per student (36 students)
- Special Education: $29,732.92 per student (22 students)
Under the current funding model, the total projected cost for 2025-26 is $1,324,853.
With the proposed reform and a statewide base tuition rate of $8,000 per student, KASD could potentially save $637,590 annually.
If the tuition rate were adjusted to $10,000 per student, the potential savings would be $521,590 annually.
