Dr. Steven A. Leever
    Assistant Superintendent 


    Dr. Leever begins his second year and comes to KASD with a variety of educational experiences. A social studies teacher by training, he has worked for 32 years in public, private and international schools over the past. As a classroom teacher and department supervisor, Dr. Leever was instrumental in developing a program for at-risk high school youth Eastern Lancaster County School District. This work played a key role in his pursuing degrees in school leadership and administration at Immaculata University. After 15 years as a classroom teacher, he entered administration at Wilson School District, serving as a high school assistant principal and then principal at Central Junior High. In 2008, he and his family moved to the Middle East, where he served as a middle school principal at the American School of Doha (Qatar) and as high school principal at the American School of Dubai (United Arab Emirates). These rich experiences in diverse enviornments have shaped how he views schools and acheivement. Hired at KASD in October of 2019, Dr. Leever is thrilled to be a part of the Kutztown Area School District community and to help support students as their quest to maximize potential, embrace change, and create the future.

    Dr. Leever is an avid fan of sports of all kinds, and has coached football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. He and his son have beenon a tour to every major league baseball park. He lives on a farm that has been in the family for over 100 years and has been fully restored. They also run a small business from their farm. He enjoys construction projects, woodworking, yard work, reading, and travel both in the US and abroad.
