The
intent of the Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics
course is to increase understanding of the American political system,
its framework, traditions, and values with the goal of having each
student pass the national AP Exam. This course is concerned with the
nature of the American political system and its development over the
past two centuries. We will examine, in detail, the principle processes
and institutions through which the political system functions, as well
as some of the public policies, which these institutions establish, and
how they are implemented.
AP United States Government and
Politics is for the student who has the ability and the desire to pursue
a college-level course while still in high school. It must be
understood that you will be required to take a large amount of
individual initiative in completing assignments prior to class.
The national exam for 2015 is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
