Interactive Digital Studio
On Friday, December 9th, the Kutztown Area School District transformed their high school library into the "Kutztown Interactive Digital Studio" (KIDS). This studio space was designed to "introduce youth and families to computer science education for all ages and share in activities that inspire and celebrate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education."
Students from the high school, middle school, and elementary school visited the immersive studio and experience a variety of computer science related activities. Families with PreK kids (ages 3-5) are encouraged to also visit the studio with their parents and explore early computer and design activities. Our young visitors will experience an engaging environment designed around computer science, coding, and making. Participants will be able to explore our "code cave," "challenge lab," "maker studio," and "black box media studio."
The KIDS studio was part of Computer Science Education Week (December 5-11), an annual program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. In addition to the KIDS studio, all Kutztown Area School District students in grades K-12 will engaged in coding activities that week through participation in the Hour of Code, a global movement developed by Code.org.
